What we know today.....

As most of you know already we got the shock of our lives this week when Matt was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. We found this cancer when Matt began to feel tired and developed a pain in his chest. We first thought it was his heart but that came back clear. So next we thought maybe the cause of all of this was his gall bladder. He went in two weeks ago and had an ultrasound on his liver and gall bladder. At that time it was discovered that he had several large tumors in his liver. We were sent straight away to get a ct scan which showed that the tumors probably came from somewhere else in his body. A biopsy was done which came back this week confirming that the cancer originated in his colon and spread to the liver.

We have been doing a lot of scans and making appointments with doctors. Our plan for now is to go to Tucson Monday morning and meet with a colon surgeon. We spoke with her over the phone last night and even though the oncologist here thinks we should have the tumor removed from the colon right away she believes maybe it might be best to begin with chemotherapy. She wants to meet with us to discuss options. Then on Wednesday morning we will go to the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Goodyear for an evaluation. We have heard that this is the place to go if you have cancer. We are hoping that they will be able to give us a good plan that we begin as soon as possible, whether it be surgery, chemotherapy, or something else.

We so appreciate all of the messages we have received from all of you. It is so nice to know that we have so many friends and family praying for us.

Brittani, my sister Laurie, or I will post whenever there is new news.
We look forward to spending time together as a family this weekend listening to General Conference.
