Dear Family and Friends,
Sorry it has taken me some time to write and I know many of you have been asking about Matt, it is just so hard to write when we don't get good news.
Matt had scans again last week and while the news wasn't good, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined it would be. He has some growth in the both the liver and lungs but nothing new in the bones. The plan from here is to add back in the pump which is chemo he carries around in a "man bag" for 3 days, Matt really hates it. It has a line connected to his chest into the port and it gets caught on things and makes it difficult to shower. Besides the fact that it beeps every 5 seconds just to annoy you!
Matt will do this through the holidays and then sometime in Jan he will rescan and do some type of targeted therapy to the liver; either HAI pump or Sir Spheres and take a chemo break. Matt REALLY needs a chemo break! He is almost at the point of saying he is done. The onc feels that if we can get the liver, which is the most pressing issue right now, under some kind of control, then Matt could take a break. The lungs seem to grow very slowly and all of the tumors there are smaller than a cm. We of course will have to watch the bones, but hopefully if something does pop up we can radiate again. So that is the plan for now.....we can only take it one day at a time, but Matt does have something to look forward to so that is nice.
Thanksgiving this year will be with just our children and son in law, and Matt's mom. We will celebrate on Friday and Matt is feeling well enough to cook the turkey! :)
At this time of year I look at all my many blessing and am so grateful. Cancer has made me appreciate life and every moment of it so much more. Just being home is something that both Matt and I are so grateful for.
We of course are so extremely grateful for all of you, all of your prayers, kind thoughts, and acts of service in our behalf!
Love to all!!!
